Special Report: YesterEars Limited Release Tees

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today I wanted to bring you a special report on some limited edition T-Shirts: the YesterEars Limited Release Tees.

What it is: This is a "vintage collection" of limited release nostalgia t-shirts. A total of three styles of T-Shirts were released: A 70's shirt showcasing the Walt Disney World Preview Center, an 80's shirt featuring Figment and the Dreamfinder (for more on who the Dreamfinder was, see this post), and a 90's shirt with the X-S Tech logo (for those unfamiliar, this is a reference to the old Alien Encounter attraction).

Who it's for: People with a deep sense of nostalgia, people who loved these attractions (or the Preview Center?), and people who just really like vintage-looking stuff.

What it Costs: Ok, here's the tricky bit. They are $27.99 each. Kind of a lot for a T-shirt but, if you happen to love these exact attractions, maybe it's worth it. However, if you buy two, you can get them for $48. That comes down to "only" $24 each and saves you a little less than $8. Not as bad. If you decide you want to buy three, you can get them for $69. This means that each shirt is $23 and you save a total of almost $15. Slightly more palatable.

Worthy of Note: You can decide to buy more than three T-Shirts, but the Fine Print (listed below) says you have to buy in multiples of two or three. That kind of makes it sound like, if you bought in threes you would get the $23 pricepoint but, if you bought in twos (like if you bought 4 total) you would only get the $24 pricepoint. This is not accurate. I tried adding 4 T-Shirts to my bag and I tried it with 5 and, in both cases, all T-Shirts were being charged at the $23 amount.

So, you can pretty much count on each additional T-Shirt past the third one still getting the deeper discount. If you're getting 3 or more of these, they should come out to $23 each. This is important because the $69 you'll pay for your first three shirts is not enough to qualify you for free shipping, but if you have a friend willing to combine their order with yours (or you just happen to want 4 shirts) you can get your total over the $75 mark and then use promo code SHIPMAGIC at checkout to get Free Shipping.

How to Get it: You can only get the deal for these shirts online here or by phone. The sale at least (though probably the shirts themselves) are not available in stores, Parks, or outlets. No promo code is required to get the 2 for $48 or the 3 for $69 deal.

My Thoughts: I think the shirts are very cool concepts. I love the nostalgia element, I think the art looks great, and I like the uniqueness of what they picked for each decade. But, as my "What it Costs" section might indicate, I'm not crazy about the price.

I understand that they're limited release and that makes them more valuable for some people but, even $23 seems a little high to me. As I discussed here in my report on the recent Limited Release Pete's Dragon Tees, I'm just not sure about charging this much for T-Shirts. I really love the Disney graphic tees but, personally, tend not to buy them until they go on sale because I don't like to pay more than $20 for a T-Shirt.

That being said, if it were a Horizons shirt or a Carousel of Progress shirt (wow, I just realized that I REALLY want a Carousel of Progress shirt) I would probably be all over this deal so, if you happen to love these attractions, you'll get no judgment from me.

Side Note: One of my favorite bloggers, who does not usually post on merchandise, did a lengthy post on these shirts. I thought it was an interesting perspective and worth a read. You can read it here. Since I report pretty much exclusively on merchandise, I try not to give my opinion too strongly, because I know that a lot of the "value" and "worth" of merchandise is in the eye of the beholder and I mostly want to just make people aware of sales, unique items, and things that are worthy of note. Anyway, I thought the perspective of someone who usually writes more about Parks would be interesting.

The Fine Print: This is the Fine Print Disney published for the sale of these T-Shirts.

You can check it out here. For me, these are a much easier purchase to justify.

That's it for this Special Report. What do you think? Do you like Limited Release Tees? Does the Price Bother you? Is it fully Worth It? Let me know in the comments!
