Tsum Tsum Tuesday! Attack of the Clones Collection!!!

Hey there Disney Fans!

It's Tsum Tsum Tuesday once again! This week's Tsum Tsum collection is Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones!

https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-star-wars-attack-of-the-clones-mini-tsum-tsum-plush-collection/mp/1415973/1000267/

What it is: The First and Third Tuesday of every month is "Tsum Tsum Tuesday". On this day, a special new collection of Tsum Tsums is released. It usually includes a collection of 6-8 mini Tsum Tsums and possibly some other accessories featuring the same style. Sometimes the Tsum Tsums released are very limited, so your only chance to collect them is to be at your Disney Store or online first thing Tuesday morning.
This Tuesday, the collection released was: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

How to Get it: This collection is available in your local Disney Store or online.

What it Costs: These Tsum Tsums are all $5.95 each. The T-shirts are discussed below.

What's Included in this Release: There are 7 mini Tsum Tsums and 3 Limited Release Tees in this release. While there are a lot of different Star Wars Tsum Tsum collections, this is the first time Episode II has been done, so these Tsum Tsums are unique to this collection.

Let's take a look:

Aayla Secura: Aayla Secura is a female Jedi from the Twi'lek species. We see her in Attack of the Clones as a part of the rescue team that saves Anakin, Obi Wan, and Padme from Geonosis.

Aayla Secura ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
She also has a part in the popular Clone Wars television show. Many Star Wars fans will remember her more from that than from the movie.

Anakin Skywalker: I like to keep my blog fairly spoiler-free so, we'll just say he's a young Jedi with a somewhat troubled past and a VERY troubled future.

©Disney
I like that they decided to include the lightsaber for this Tsum Tsum. I'm not sure about that hair... but then I wasn't sure about it when I saw the movie either, so judge for yourself.

Count Dooku: His name is silly.

He sort of looks like "angry Obi Wan Kenobi" to me. I feel like we can all relate to that friend that you haven't checked in with for a while. You think they're fine and that their life is on track, and then you find out they're in jail. That's this guy. The guy you thought was doing ok, but has actually totally lost it. Just look at those angry eyes.

Jango Fett: This dude has issues. Ok, so you have to have some issues to be a bounty hunter. I get that, but I feel like his issues go beyond that. He let himself be cloned into an entire army and then lived on a really strange planets with nobody but aliens, his clones, and his own, personal, tiny clone. That's just weird.

©Disney
I would be interested to hear in the comments how many of us would be ok with being cloned. How many of us would be cool with having our clones trained into a giant army. And, how many of us would then think it was a good idea to live with those clones. I suspect the answer to all of those questions, for most people, would involve a large dollar figure, but I'd like to hear the answer.

Plo Koon: If you're thinking "Who?" you're probably not alone and the picture below will likely not help you. Plo Koon is a Kel Dor from Dorin (so says the internet) and he is considered one of the wisest of the Jedi.

Plo Koon ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
Like Aayla Secura, he was also a part of the rescue mission at the Battle of Geonosis in Episode II. Again, he is probably better known to a lot of Star Wars fans for his role in the Clone Wars show.

Mace Windu: Before there were Snakes on a Plane and long before Nick Fury looked Furious, there was a dude with a purple lightsaber: Mace Windu.

Mace Windu ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
He looks a little more adorable than intense and powerful in Tsum Tsum form, but he does still have his signature purple lightsaber. Rumor has it that Samuel L Jackson requested this color so that he would be able to pick himself out in the battle-scenes in the movie.

Padme Amidala: I don't know about you, but I was surprised by her resourcefulness and physical prowess given her life as a Queen/politician. I don't feel like queens are usually known for doing a lot of cardio.

©Disney
Again, I don't want to give out any spoilers for people who have somehow failed to see this movie over the past decade, but suffice it to say, she's a very supportive girlfriend. Her taste in men leaves something to be desired, but we've all picked the "bad boy" at some point so, we can probably cut her some slack.

That's it for the Mini Tsum Tsums in this release, but there are also three Limited Release Tees.

Limited Release Tees: These are only AVAILABLE UNTIL SUNDAY so, if you like them, go for it!

©Disney
What it Costs: There are 3 Limited Release Tees in this collection. They are all selling for $29.95 each, with a 2 for $44 deal, bringing the price down to $22 each if you happen to want more than one. All of them are adult sizes.

My Thoughts:  I actually really like the designs on these t-shirts. I have not always been thrilled about the expense or designs of some of the Limited Release Tees Disney has put out lately, but I kind of like these.

Confession time: I liked Star Wars Episode II. Yes, I am aware it's not a good movie, but there's just something about it I really liked. I kind of feel like, it's not really a Star Wars movie. If you think of it as just its own, stand-alone movie without the pressure of feeding into a much beloved story, it's a creative, fun, romantic drama. Yes, the acting is not and some of the writing leaves something to be desired, but I like it.

I especially liked the way it took you to never-before seen worlds. The beauty of Naboo, the other-worldliness of the ocean-planet of Camino, and the impressiveness of the Jedi facilities and archive. In the other movies, everything is always falling apart or has already been destroyed. I really enjoyed seeing the pre-death and destruction Star Wars universe. *steps off soapbox*

Ok, you're never going to convince Star Wars fans to love this movie, but the tsum tsums are cute and the shirts are adorable, so at least we have that.

What do you think? Do you also secretly love this movie. Do you hate it and want to yell at me about why? Do you just love Tsum Tsums and not care what movie they're from? Let me know in the comments!

Tsum Tsum Tuesday: Muppets!!!

Hey there Disney Fans!

Tsum Tsum Tuesday was yesterday and, if you're like me, you missed it because of a horrific sinus infection. So, for those of you browsing the internet at home because you're still contagious, here's the recap what was released yesterday for Tsum Tsum Tuesday: Muppets!

https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-the-muppets-mini-tsum-tsum-plush-collection/mp/1415974/1000267/
©Disney
What it is: The First and Third Tuesday of every month is "Tsum Tsum Tuesday". On this day, a special new collection of Tsum Tsums is released. It usually includes a collection of 6-8 mini Tsum Tsums and possibly some other accessories featuring the same style. Sometimes the Tsum Tsums released are very limited, so your only chance to collect them is to be at your Disney Store or online first thing Tuesday morning.

This past Tuesday, the collection released was: Muppets

How to Get it: This collection is available in your local Disney Store or online.

What it Costs: These Tsum Tsums are all $5.95 each.

What's Included in this Release: There are 7 mini Tsum Tsums in this release. To my knowledge, this is the first time Muppets have made their way into Tsum Tsum form so this is a very exciting first! This collection focuses on the classic, core Muppet characters we all know and love from the original 1970's Muppet Show. Let's take a look:

Kermit: Clearly, we can't have Muppets without Kermit. He's the glue that holds their big, messy, adorable circus together.

Kermit ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
He's just a classic. It may not be easy being green, but it is easy to see why he's so beloved. Just look at his little froggy face!

Miss Piggy: The woman behind the frog. We all know that Kermit's success would mean nothing without his best pig supporting him. I choose to ignore the breakup from the short-lived recent tv show. Does anyone know if they got back together before that got canceled? Please let me know in the comments.

Miss Piggy ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
I just love Miss Piggy. In some ways I feel that she is a true feminist role model. She is feminine yet so strong. She has her own career, but is always willing to make time for a relationship. She pays attention to fashion and always looks impeccable (impigable?), but also practices martial arts (she has a mean karate chop). She struggles with her weight, but dresses to flatter her fuller figure. Really, there's so much to admire in Miss Piggy. So Stylish. So Angry.

Gonzo: We don't know what he is, but we do know that we love him.

Gonzo ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
Unhealthy obsession with chickens aside, Gonzo's fun-loving, carefree nature and his complete disregard for personal safety have made him a fan-favorite for generations.

Rowlf: Rowlf is a dog who can play the piano like none other.

Rowlf ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
I'm really glad Rowlf made this list. Although his roles in several of the Muppet movies have been small or almost non-existent, I've always really like him. More level headed than other Muppets, he's like that musician friend we all had in college. That guy who seems like he's always sitting in the quad strumming a guitar, ready to listen, but almost disturbingly unworried about any of his own exams. I might be reading too much into this character.

Fozzy Bear: He bearly made the cut. Get it? "bear"ly? Get it? *sound of tomatoes hitting stage*

Fozzie Bear ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
The originator of "dad jokes" Fozzy Bear is the jubilant jokester of the jovial Muppets. I love Fozzy's jokes and I never really understood as a kid why people were booing him. I now understand that my love of puns is not appreciated by most of the world and that I am not cool... but I still think Fozzy is.

Animal: Aside from Rowlf, Animal is the only band member featured in this group. A drummer with rage issues, this is the fuzziest, cutest version of the "wild thing" you're likely to find.

Animal ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
It's almost strange to see the violent, unhinged drummer in such a cutesy form. He does look malevolently happy though.

The Swedish Chef: Last, but far from least, we have the chef with dubious cuisine and limitless exuberance:

Swedish Chef ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - The Muppets - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
Can I get a Bork Bork?! I just have to say, those eyebrows are the stuff of legend. I want to write fan fiction about them. I feel that they would be like really snooty food critics constantly analyzing and hipster-commentating on the "sourcing" of the fish and other food parts flying past them as the chef attempts to cook. Or maybe I'll just stick to merch blogging.

Worthy of Note: If you're sad about the lack of Janice, Dr. Teeth, Rizzo, Beaker, and others, take heart. Usually Disney does multiple releases for their most popular intellectual property so, there is a decent chance that there will be more Muppet Tsum Tsums released in the future. Quite likely other characters will be released eventually. Just be patient. Although, if you have a character you REALLY want to see, you can always try writing to Disney to politely ask them to make it. There are no guarantees but, the Disney company does pay attention to customer feedback so, it's worth a try.

Tsum Tsum Tuesday: Spider-Man 2.0 Collection!

Hey There Disney Fans!

Guess what day it is?! It's Tsum Tsum Tuesday!

Disney Tsum Tsum Tuesday feat. Spider-Man 2.0 Collection
©Disney
What it is:  The First and Third Tuesday of every month is "Tsum Tsum Tuesday". On this day, a special new collection of Tsum Tsums is released. It usually includes a collection of around 8 mini Tsum Tsums and some other accessories featuring the same style. Sometimes the Tsum Tsums released are very limited, so your only chance to collect them is to be at your Disney Store or online first thing Tuesday morning.

This Tuesday, the collection released is: Spider-Man 2.0

How to Get it: This collection is available in your local Disney Store or online.

What it Costs: These Tsum Tsums are all $5.95 each.

What's Included in this Release: There are 6 mini Tsum Tsums in this release. They're interesting because they go into some different permutations of familiar characters and then also feature some characters that may be lesser known to those who have only seen the movies and not read the comic books. Let's take a look!

Iron Spider: This is Spider-Man wearing Iron-Man-type armor. The idea here is that Tony Stark (Iron Man) made a special suit of armor designed for Spider-Man's needs.

Iron Spider ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
This is very creative and not something I've seen before. This may be from a recent comic book run or the cartoon, or it may just be a reference to the protectiveness we saw from Iron Man toward Spider-Man in the most recent Marvel movie.

Hobgoblin: The Hobgoblin is a Spider-Man villain who has been popular in comic books but not really present in the movies. He's sort of a successor the Green Goblin.

Hobgoblin ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
I love his angry little eyes. He's just about the most adorable little Hobgoblin you'll ever see.

Spider-Man: This little guy you know already.

Spider-Man ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
He looks pretty squishy and cuddly there. I love his tiny little arms and legs.

Doc Ock: Doctor Octopus here is not actually an octopus. Disappointing, I know. He is, however, a guy with a lot of mechanical arms so, at least there's that.

Doc Ock ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
Those of you who remember the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies will recognize this guy... sort of. I don't think this one actually looks all that much like Doc Ock, but it's still pretty adorable.

Kraven: The Disney store lists Kraven as "Spider-Man's nemesis". I don't know about that. Feel free to argue with me if you think that's true, but I feel like it might be a bit of a stretch to say he's actually Spider-Man's "nemesis". A villain, sure, but nemesis? I don't know about that.

Kraven ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
Look how furious his eyebrows are! You can't see it in the picture, but he's wearing both zebra and cheetah prints together so, clearly he believes he's a snazzy dresser. (Don't worry, Disney assures us these are "faux fur accents")

Spider Gwen: I saved this one for last because she's become such a fan-favorite lately. Spider-Gwen is Gwen Stacey from Earth-65. In that world, she has gained the "spider powers" we associate with Spider-Man.

Spider-Gwen ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush - Mini - 3 1/2''
©Disney
She looks pretty cool right? Well, I think she does. I know the Spider Gwen comics have been very popular and it looks like Disney is starting to take notice of that.

My Thoughts: Overall, I think this looks like a pretty fun bunch of Tsum Tsums. I predict that Spider Gwen will be the most popular (maybe after Spider Man), but then, what do I know? As always, they look well-made and like a lot of thought went into them. If you want the whole collection, you'll want to hit your Disney Store or online today, before any of the styles sell out.

What do you think? Do you like these? Are there other characters you want to see? Are you dying for a Spider-Gwen Movie? Let me know in the comments!

Tsum Tsum Tuesday! Villains Collection

Hey There Disney Fans!

I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend! Now that we're all back at work, it's time to celebrate something else: Tsum Tsums! Today is Tsum Tsum Tuesday!!! The collection being released is: Villains!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-disney-villains-mini-tsum-tsum-plush-collection/mp/1412539/1000267/

This Tuesday, the collection released is Villains.

How to Get it: This collection is available in your local Disney Store or online.

What it Costs: The Tsum Tsums are $5.95 each, but there area also a few shirts being included in this collection. The shirts are $26.95 for a tank top or $29.95 for either of the T-shirts.

If you buy any two of these limited release shirts, you can get them for $44. That's a savings of around $16 if you're buying the more expensive shirts.

What's Included in this Release: There are quite a few items in this release, including 8 mini Tsum Tsums and three Limited Release shirts. I will go through each of the Tsum Tsums below, but you can view the t-shirts online here.

Maleficent: I'm starting with Maleficent because she's a little different from the other characters. As we all know, Maleficent is the Villain from Sleeping Beauty. If you recall the film, then you know that, for most of the movie, Maleficent is an evil fairy plotting against the King, his family, and his daughter, Aurora.

Maleficent
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-maleficent-tsum-tsum-plush-sleeping-beauty-mini-3-12/mp/1411341/1000267/
The Tsum Tsum above represents Maleficent's Evil Fairy look. This is how she appears for the majority of the movie. However, at the final battle/climax of the movie, she suddenly transforms into a huge dragon:

Maleficent as a Dragon
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-maleficent-as-dragon-tsum-tsum-plush-sleeping-beauty-mini-3-12/mp/1411241/1000267/
While the movie version is pretty terrifying, if you're a small child, I think we can all agree that she's gotten a serious cuteness upgrade in Tsum Tsum form. I think it's interesting that they decided to show both of Maleficent's forms.

Evil Queen: Next up is the Evil Queen from Snow White. The original Disney Villain, even as a Tsum Tsum, Evil Queen still manages to look like she's disgusted with everything.

Evil Queen
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-evil-queen-tsum-tsum-plush-snow-white-and-the-seven-dwarfs-mini-3-12/mp/1411339/1000267/
Seriously, have you ever seen a Tsum Tsum manifest so much derision? That is one "I'm so much better than you" look she's got on her face. Impressively evil.

Lady Tremaine: For those of you saying, "who?" right now, Lady Tremaine is the wicked stepmother from Cinderella. I actually think she's the most terrifying of the Disney Villains featured here.

Lady Tremaine
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-lady-tremaine-tsum-tsum-plush-cinderella-mini-3-12/mp/1411249/1000267/
Of all the Villains in this collection, she's one of only two without magic. She manages to be every bit as evil, manipulative, and vicious as the lady who can turn into a giant dragon, and all she's got is her attitude. I find her the most frightening because she's the one type of Villain in this collection that could really exist. I could talk for a long time about Lady Tremaine, but I'll shorten it to this: all of us have influence over someone in our lives; we can use that influence for harm or for good. I'd encourage everyone to think about this today and to choose to Have Courage and Be Kind.

Dr. Facilier: Dr. Facilier is the evil Voodoo Man from Princess and the Frog. He's a pretty dark, though sometimes entertaining character.

Dr. Facilier
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-doctor-facilier-tsum-tsum-plush-the-princess-and-the-frog-mini-3-12/mp/1411251/1000267/
I think this is a highly underrated film. It has delightful music and it really beautifully drawn. I think it suffered under the weight of overwhelming expectations at the time when it came out, but it's actually quite good. A little warning though: this particular Disney Villain gets a comeuppance that may be too terrifying for small children.

Cruella De Vil: We all know Cruella as the infamous Villain of 101 Dalmatians.

Cruelle De Vil
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-cruella-de-vil-tsum-tsum-plush-101-dalmatians-mini-3-12/mp/1411245/1000267/
Don't worry, her tiny fur coat is NOT made from real fur.

Ursula: Ursula is the terrifying sea-witch/evil octopus from The Little Mermaid. She introduced many of us to the dangers of entering into contracts we don't understand.

Ursula
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-ursula-tsum-tsum-plush-the-little-mermaid-mini-3-12/mp/1411247/1000267/
I believe after her defeat at the end of the movie, she went into offering student loan packages.

Jafar as a Genie: Ok, I saved this one for last because it's just so strange. We all know of Jafar as the Villain of Aladdin. However, Genie Jafar is only a very brief part of the movie.

Genie Jafar
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/plush-toys-jafar-as-genie-tsum-tsum-plush-aladdin-mini-3-12/mp/1411243/1000267/

I'm really not sure why they made this choice. Several Disney Villains have more than one aspect. I think it's interesting that they decided to show both aspects of Maleficent, only the more famous version of Evil Queen (rather than showing the "old hag" version), and then only the less well-known version of Jafar. My only thought about the reasoning for this is that there is already a traditional Jafar Tsum Tsum, so they made a more unusual one for this collection.

That's it for Tsum Tsum Tuesday this week! What do you think? Do you like this collection? Do you like Genie Jafar? Let me know in the comments!
