Find of the Day: Mickey Mouse Kettle Popcorn Popper

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a Mickey Mouse Kettle Popcorn Popper!!!

Mickey Mouse Kettle Popcorn Popper
©Disney
Does that thing make you happy or what? Look at it's little ears!!!

What it is: This is a popcorn maker. A MICKEY MOUSE KETTLE POPCORN MAKER!!!

What it Costs: $74.95 plus shipping and tax.

How to Get it: You might be able to find it in some stores, but you can pretty much always find it online at the Disney Store. You can also find it at Box Lunch. It's a little more (usually $99.90, currently on sale for $79.92), but if you read my previous post on why I love Box Lunch or you read their own website about how they give back, you'll know it's frequently worth it to pay a little more at Box Lunch. Wherever you get it, I think you'll agree it looks pretty cool.

What's Included: This is actually pretty cool. The first picture makes it look like you just get a popcorn maker, but you actually get the maker, little scoopers for kernels and oil, AND 4 Mickey serving cups. Those alone make this thing awesome. The Disney Store website does not show the cups or the scooper, but when you read the details, you'll see they're still included.

Why it's a Find of the Day: If you've read any of this blog before, you know that I love it when form and function come together. I'm not a knick-knack person. If I'm going to collect things, I want them to be useful. What could be more useful than a popcorn maker.

Another reason this is a Find of the Day is the uniquely Disney nature of the item. I mean, yes, it has Mickey ears, so that makes it Disney. But, I'm actually talking about the popcorn. When Disneyland first opened, one of its many signature snacks was popcorn. To this day, many people associate a trip to Disney with having popcorn. There is something just so very Disney about having popcorn out of a machine that looks like Mickey.

Controversy Time: For a long time, Disney had its own popcorn. I know nothing about this popcorn, all I know was that it was unique and many people really loved it. However, part of the way Disney frequently pays for upgrades to the parks is through sponsorship. Back in 2015, Disney switched all of its popcorn to Pop Secret, presumably for purposes of the sponsorship money. A lot of people were mad.

However, a lot of people continue to talk about their love of the popcorn at Disney. Maybe it tastes better in the park, maybe the way they make it makes a difference, I don't know. In any case, the potential bright-side here is that you can buy Pop Secret and make it in your Mickey popcorn maker at home. So, if you're looking for a Disney sense-memory experience, it's here and ready for you. I think it would be really fun to make authentic, Disney parks popcorn at home in a Mickey popcorn maker.

What do you think? Do you love this popcorn maker? Are you tired of me declaring every mickey-appliance a Find of the Day? (I'm probably not going to stop) Do you love Pop Secret and not care who knows it? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Mickey Toaster!

Hey there Disney Fans!

Todays Find of the Day is: a Mickey Toaster!!!

Mickey Mouse 2-Slice Toaster
©Disney
What it is: It's a toaster that not only has Mickey Mouse on it, but will also put Mickey's head on your bread!

Who it's for: Cool people

What it Costs: $24.95 plus shipping and tax.

Why it's a Find of the Day: I'm not gonna lie, Mickey appliances will probably always make it to the Find of the Day list for me. I love when you can mix form and function. Probably pretty much all of us own a toaster. It's just a ubiquitous thing in the modern, western world. They can be boring and utilitarian and just get the job done, or.. they can have Mickey on them! I especially love the fact that it puts a Mickey on your toast. There's nothing that brings that Disney Parks magic home like food shaped like Mickey's head. I just feel like this toaster would brighten any morning. That's what makes it a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you want Mickey Toast? Do you not get it? Do you not have a toaster and want to tell me about it? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Star Wars Attraction Poster Tumblers

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is: Star Wars Attraction Poster Tumblers!!!

Star Wars Parks Attraction Poster Tall Tumbler - Tatooine
©Disney
What it is: These things are AWESOME. Ok, first of all, it's a tumbler. For those who do not watch a lot of HGTV, that's a tall water glass. They can be made of plastic, but these ones are made of glass. Second, they feature scenes from various of the original Star Wars trilogy. Finally, and most awesome of all, each of the glasses pictures that Star Wars scene as the theme of an attraction poster from an actual Disney Parks ride! That one up above is an attraction poster for the Tomorrowland Speedway done in the style of Star Wars: A New Hope. It's so cool!

Who it's for: Well, anybody who loves Star Wars, People who love Disney Parks, People who like retro posters, people who like drinking out of glasses, and anyone with style and taste.

Star Wars Parks Attraction Poster Tall Tumbler - Millennium Falcon
©Disney
What it Costs: These are $13.99 each plus shipping and tax.

How to Get it: These are available in Disney Parks (subject to availability) and online. Note, there are other products featuring these Star Wars attraction poster themes. I'm just highlighting the tumblers because they're particularly cool. You can find all of the items here.

Why it's a Find of the Day: There is plenty of Star Wars merch out there and there is definitely plenty of Disney Parks merch, but these are so unique because they combine the two. Rather than just making Star Tours or Star Wars Launch Bay  posters, Disney got a little more creative. They didn't just make art that went with existing attractions, but rather combined famous scenes from Star Wars with retro-look poster motifs and images that evoke classic Disney Parks rides. It's so creative and fun.

Star Wars Parks Attraction Poster Tall Tumbler - Endor
©Disney
I already discussed that the first tumbler featured an attraction poster that references the Tomorrowland Speedway with a scene from A New Hope. The second tumbler, which might be my favorite, shows an awesome nod to Monstro from the Storybook Canal Ride at Disneyland while still clearly being the escape from the Space Slug from The Empire Strikes back. And, finally, the tumbler that made me giggle when I realized what it was: it's the ghosts of Anakin, Obi Wan, and Yoda from the end of Return of the Jedi shown as the hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. It makes me so happy!

I just love it when Disney mixes and blends all of the things we love into one, delicious, intellectual property soup. Mmm. That's good IP. What do you think? Do you love it? Do you REALLY love it? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Storybook Classics Monthly Ornaments & Pins UPDATE!

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a new installment of the Storybook Classics Monthly Ornaments & Pins!!! Yay!

https://www.disneystore.com/storybook-classics-monthly-ornaments-pins/mn/1025033/
September Ornament and Pin featuring Pecos Bill
©Disney
What it is: These are completely wonderful ornaments and pins being released each month. Each set commemorates a Disney Classic and the storybooks those classics are based on.

Who it's For: Anyone who likes Disney Ornaments or Disney Pins, people who like Disney Classics, People who like Storybooks, and anyone who just likes cute little things.

What it Costs: So far, only the first two months (August and September) have been released but, the ornaments for August and September $19.95 each plus shipping and tax. The pin for August is already sold out (I may cry) but the September pin is still available and, like last month's pin, it is listed at $14.95. Prices may vary but, I think we can expect most months to be around the same.

How to Get it: These are an online exclusive available only here.

Why It's A Find of the Day: I Love these! There are so many Disney Shorts that may not sound all that familiar at first, but once you see them you think, "Oh yeah, I remember seeing that when I was a kid." These shorts, either independently produced or created as a part of an anthology released as a full-length film, are a hugely important part of both Disney history and the Disney library of animated work.

This yearlong series will commemorate these important works and feature everything from full-length feature films like Snow White and Mary Poppins to  compilation films like Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, and Melody Time, which featured classics like Mickey and the Beanstalk, Pecos Bill, and Peter and the Wolf. What this collection has in common is that they are all Disney classics based on storybooks. At this point, a lot of the Disney cartoons are more famous than the original storybooks.

I am particularly excited about this one because it highlights some great Disney animation that many have now forgotten. While most of us have heard of Snow White, I was shocked to learn that there are plenty of people who haven't heard of Casey at Bat. I am a huge fan of Lambert the Sheepish Lion (to be commemorated in November), but not that many people remember it anymore. It's a great story and I think it's wonderful that it's being commemorated in ornaments and pins.

Worthy of Note: The "September" ornament and Pin were not released until the END of September. We can probably expect the same to be true of the October ones. As we saw with the August pin, these things do sell out so, if you want one, you should go ahead and order it. Today is an especially good day to place your order because you can get free shipping by using promo code FREESHIP at checkout.

Find of the Day: Disney Floral and Gifts!

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is Disney Floral and Gifts! That name is actually kind of misleading though, so read on to discover just how magical this actually is!

Instance error
Image from: http://www.disneyfloralandgifts.com/home.html
What it is: This is a truly magical website that lets you order "in room" celebrations, gifts, and fun that can be delivered to your Disney World or Disneyland hotel room. Additionally, they do have options that can be delivered to your home.

Items available include everything from picture frames to ear hats to chocolate to fine crystal. Most of them are grouped into different types of packages like "birthday" packages, different holiday packages, or packages for other types of events or milestones.

What it Costs: options on this website vary widely, but most of the options range around the $100-150 mark. There are definitely cheaper packages though, so don't let the price tag scare you too much.

How to get it: Just go to the website!

Who it's For: EVERYONE! Seriously, there is something for everyone. The website can be a little bit confusing because it has a navigation bar with 8 categories, most of which have at least some overlap with the others. The most important thing to pay attention to when you're looking to place your order is WHERE you can have it delivered to.

New! Star Tours® Intergalactic Adventure
New! Star Tours Intergalactic Adventure - $161.95
Image from: http://disneyworld.disneyfloralandgifts.com/product/new%21+star+tours%C2%AE+intergalactic+adventure.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=fn
If you're planning an at-home celebration (like the mickey party above) you want to make sure the package you choose is available to be shipped to your area. Some of the packages, are only available for "in room" celebrations if you're staying at a Disney hotel. Just be careful to check beforehand and you should be fine.

Aside from that, the various categories on the navigation bar let you browse items by character or theme, floral, custom gift builder, holidays, special occasions, in-room celebrations, celebrate at home, and Disney magical memories. You can do everything from have a lovely bouquet of roses delivered to your room for a romantic getaway to have a full-fledged pirate party waiting for you when you check in to your Disney resort. There are just about endless combinations to choose from and the options change regularly.

Why it's a Find of the Day: I LOVE these options because they really let you add a little extra-special Disney magic. It's already great to be going to a Disney Park and staying in a Disney hotel, but it just allows you to make it even more special for a loved one when you add on an in-room celebration.

When we celebrated my mom's birthday at Disneyland last year, she was excited to be visiting during the 60th anniversary, especially since she was visiting for the first time in around 50 years, and she was excited for the nostalgia of staying at the Disneyland hotel, but she was completely overwhelmed when she got to her room and found her surprise waiting. In fact, the package I got for her (this exact one is no longer available) actually included a big banner that said "SURPRISE!" hanging over her door so that she would know something great was coming from the moment she got there.

You Can Do It
You Can Do It! - $89.99
Image from: http://disneyworld.disneyfloralandgifts.com/product/youcandoit.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&from=fn
When she went inside there was a lanyard, a picture frame, a customized ear hat with her name and "It's my Birthday" on it, some candy, a stuffed mickey, and a variety of other things. One of her favorite touches was the fact that little paper "mickey footprints" showed that Mickey had just been there setting up and then sneaked away, leaving only his footprints behind. We did a lot of great stuff that weekend, but one of the memories I know she loves the most was that feeling of coming into her room for the first time and finding a big birthday surprise just for her.

In general, these are a Find of the Day because they're just so Disney. That spirit of taking it over the top and just doing that little bit extra is what makes us all love Disney so much. Whether you're planning a special surprise at home or you're encouraging someone just before a runDisney event with a pack like the "You Can Do It!" above, the items from Disney Floral and Gifts help us all make someone else's day, celebration, event, whatever just a little more special.

What do you think? Do you love Disney's Floral and Gift Products? Do you hate them? Do you think they're overpriced? Have you ever bought/received one? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Attractionistas

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is the Attractionista Dolls!

Carrie
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/dolls-toys-disney-attractionistas-doll-carrie-12/mp/1387796/1000259/
What it is: The Attractionistas are dolls that each represent a different ride from Disney World and Disneyland. The backstory is kind of vague, but the website says:

"Attractionistas are special friends that love to be together at the Disney Parks every chance they get. Each has wished to always be part of their favorite attraction, and that it could be a part of them. Now all their wondrous wishing has come true with this fabulous 12" fashion doll!"

So, there you have it. They're... a part of the attraction? The attractions are a part of them? They're victims of fashion-wishing? I'm not really sure, but what they definitely are is thoroughly themed.

Gracey
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/dolls-toys-disney-attractionistas-doll-gracey-12/mp/1381060/1000259/

What they Cost: The dolls are $24.95 each.

Who they're for: That's a good question. These dolls are definitely toys, so they could be for kids but, they're also thoroughly themed, with semi-obscure references, making them seem kind of like they're themed toward adult collectors. In general, I'd say if you're a fan of one of the represented attractions, these dolls might be for you.

Pearl
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/dolls-toys-disney-attractionistas-doll-pearl-12/mp/1381116/1000259/

Why they're a Find of the Day: Well, they're just so darn unique. Frankly, I was a little weirded out by them when I first saw them. When I saw the "Carrie" doll with her pale skin and hair, I first thought she was some type of horror doll. But, as I read about her, I realized Carrie was a play on Carousel and that she is supposed to represent both the King Arthur and Prince Charming Regal carousels in Disneyland and Disney World.

Gracey up there is named after Master Gracy, the mysterious owner of the haunted mansion. Pearl, the Pirates of the Caribbean themed doll is name, probably, after the Black Pearl - Captain Jack Sparrow's famous ship. And finally, perhaps most cleverly named of all, Maddie (below) represents the Mad Tea Party ride.

Maddie
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/dolls-toys-disney-attractionistas-doll-maddie-12/mp/1381118/1000259/
Disney has put out plenty of dolls in the past on a variety of themes, but I don't recall them ever putting out quite such unusual-looking, ride- specific dolls as these. They really have a look that is all their own. I'm not even totally sure if I really like them, but they are definitely Disney and definitely unique. That makes them a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you like them? Do you think they're weird? Did you buy them? Do you know more backstory about them? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: H2O Plus Collection

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is the H2O Plus Collection!

H2O Plus Collection
Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/h2o-plus-collection/mn/1007016/?searchTerms=h2o&isSearchRedirect=1
What it is: This is a collection of bath and body products featuring favorite Disney characters, especially Mickey Mouse.

What it Costs: Items in this collection are sold from individual products for around $12 to larger collections around $50.

How to Get it: These products are available in the Parks, at most Disney Hotels, and online.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/beauty-accessories-grapefruit-bergamot-hair-treatment-set/mp/1348742/1007301/
Why it's a Find of the Day: This is a little different from what I usually feature because product itself is not all that unique. There are tons of bath and body products out there to buy and, as I'm sure many readers will know, non-Disney H2O Plus products are readily available a variety of places. The Disney-specific ones are less widely available, but if you've been to a Walgreens lately I'm sure you've seen that there are plenty of other types of Disney licensed kids shampoos, soaps, and other bath products. They're perfectly good bath products, but there are a lot of perfectly good bath products out there.

So, why is THIS particular collection a Find of the Day? Two words: Sense Memory. These exact H2O Plus, Disney bath and body products are the SAME products you will find in your Disney Resort when you make a trip to the parks. As we all know, memories associated with scents are some of the most powerful, and these bath and body products are the exact smell that you will have had in your resort during your Disney World or Disneyland trip.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/beauty-accessories-blushing-orange-hair-collection/mp/1348748/1007301/
These are a Find of the Day because the merchandise in this product line has the unique ability to take you back to that same feeling of fun, happiness, and carefree enjoyment that you had during your last Disney Resort stay. Pictures are fun and souvenirs are great, but I think this line of bath products can bring back not only memories, but the feelings of being on vacation. That's what makes them a Find of the Day. Also, they smell nice.

What do you think? Do you like these products? Do they remind you of happy memories? Do you have no idea what I'm talking about and think I'm crazy? Let me know in the comments!

Disney Find of the Day: Wall Signs

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is the Disney Wall Signs!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-disneyland-wall-sign/mp/1410458/1000247/

What it is: Well, it's more of a, "What They Are" really. They are a collection of different Disney Wall Signs. You can buy them to put up on your wall at home to remind you of a favorite park or attraction or just to look pretty.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-minnies-bake-shop-wall-sign/mp/1410344/1000247/

Who they're for: People who want to open their own "Gaston's Tavern", people who like wall signs, and people who are just generally fond of having Disney stuff on their walls.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-the-great-movie-ride-wall-sign/mp/1410464/1000247/

What they Cost: They range in price from $32.99 for small ones to $150 for the largest, most Parks-authentic ones.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-gastons-tavern-wall-sign-walt-disney-world/mp/1410348/1000247/

Why they're a Find of the Day: As you can see from the various pictures, some of these signs are extremely detailed. Since there are a few different sizes of signs, I'll talk about them separately.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-mickeys-ice-cream-bar-wall-sign/mp/1410346/1000247/

First, what I like about the smaller signs like the Minnie's Bake Shop and Mickey's Ice Cream Bar signs is the fact that they showcase those wonderful Disney snacks. For a lot of us, the snacks are what put the Parks over the top from awesome places to vacation to the BEST places to vacation. I also really love that, while these do reference Parks snacks, I feel like they would fit well in any kitchen, dining room, rec room or breakfast nook.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/home-accents-lighting-home-decor-frontierland-attractions-wall-sign-walt-disney-world/mp/1410460/1000247/
Second, as you can see from the pictures above, the midsize and large signs focus on attractions, lands, and Parks in both Disney World and Disneyland. These are just so much fun. From the really beautiful Great Movie Ride sign, which would look great in a media room, to the extremely authentic Gaston's Tavern sign that would look awesome in any man-cave, rec room, or bar area, these signs would really add some Disney magic to any home.

These are a Find of the Day because they're unique, they're a statement, and they're unmistakably Disney.

What do you think? Do you like the wall signs? Where would you put one? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Monorail Socks!

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is: Monorail Socks!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/disneystore/shoes-socks-accessories-monorail-socks-for-adults/mp/1405630/1000222/
What it is: These are some awesome, adult-sized socks with MONORAILS on them!

Who it's for: Cool People. Really, if you don't like monorail socks, you can't really claim to be cool.

What it Costs: A pair of these will set you back $13.99 plus shipping and tax.

How to get it: These are available online here, but you can also pick them up at both Disneyland and Disney World.

Why it's a Find of the Day: There are few things more iconic to the Disney Parks than the monorails. From Walt Disney's vision of a future with clean, swift, public transportation to the excitement of riding one to your first park visit of vacation, nothing says "I'm at Disney" like the monorails.

In fact, if you're interested in some fun Disney Parks listening, WDW Radio did a "7 Wonders of Disney World" series a few years back on the podcast and one of the Wonders episodes was dedicated to the monorail. If you're not into podcasts, the short version is: Monorails are awesome and the ones at Disney are a lot of the reason we love the Disney Parks so much.

Also, the fact that these are decorative socks makes them interesting and unique. Disney has always put out patterned socks for kids, but they haven't always put out a lot for adults. They do occasionally put out some adult socks with an icon or a logo or as an accompaniment to specific merchandise release but, this type of full-coverage, patterned, adult sock without any other tie-ins is kind of new for Disney. (Note: if you're interested in these kinds of socks, I noticed that a few other styles were also released with the most recent update of new merchandise online. Maybe Disney is working on moving into this area?

That's it for today's Find of the Day! What do you think? Do you love monorails? Do you love socks? Let me know in the comments!

Disney Find of the Day: Disney Park Pack - Pin Trading Edition - Monthly Subscriptions

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a little different because it's actually a subscription box. Specifically, it's a Disney Park Pack - Pin Trading Edition - Monthly Subscription.

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/pins-collectibles-disney-park-pack-pin-trading-edition-monthly-subscriptions/mp/1384761/1000211/#longDescription
What it is: This is a recurring monthly subscription box that will include Disney Pins. For those unfamiliar with subscription boxes, usually you pay a monthly fee and a box full of items that are a surprise but generally fit a theme or category. In this case, the theme is Disney Parks Pins.

Each box comes with three Disney Pins. One of them is a "limited edition" pin that is only supposed to be available in the subscription box and the other two are "open edition" pins that will be available in the parks after it is released in the box.

What it Costs: These boxes are $39.95 per month. The subscription will auto-renew each month, charge you $39.95, and send you a new box.

Who it's For: People who collect Disney Pins, People who like getting Disney surprises in the mail, People interested in finding some unusual Disney Pins.

Why it's a Find of the Day: Ok, right up front I want to say that I really waffled about whether this was more of a "Find of the Day" or a "Not Sure About This One". I'll discuss my thoughts about this item further down, but I try not to just feature things that are interesting to me. I try to feature things that are unusual, hard to find, unique, or otherwise worthy of note. This definitely meets more than one of those criteria so, I wanted to go ahead an featur it.

First: monthly subscription products have been around for a long time for things like the "jam of the month club", etc. but, of late, they've gained a lot more popularity as a way to receive products from your favorite fandom. Although a lot number of other companies have started services with Disney subscription boxes, Disney has been a bit slow to produce its own. There have been a few very limited release subscription boxes, but, not a lot more than that. Currently, the Disney Store has three types of subscription boxes available: this Park Pins one, a Tsum Tsum one that has been sold out for some time now, and  Holiday Ornament Park Pack. The fact that there are so few of these subscription boxes available makes this a pretty unique find.

Second: This is a Find of the Day because the "limited edition" pins that are included in this box are not available anywhere else. Depending on what kind of pin collector you are, this could have huge appeal, so I wanted to report on it.

My Thoughts: Disney Pin Trading and collecting is very individual-specific. Some people collect pins they like, some people do all Princesses, others collect only Parks Pins (like the ones in these boxes), or only pins from their favorite movies. The options are endless. Personally, if I let myself collect all the Disney pins I liked, my house would be overflowing with them, so I stick with just the cheshire cat... for the most part.

All of this comes to a very important point about these boxes: they are a surprise. You don't get to choose what you will receive. You just get whatever they send you. So, whether you will like these boxes has a lot to do with what kind of collector you are. I read a lot of the reviews for this product and, across the board, it seemed like people who were collecting these for the fun of being surprised or because they live far from the parks and like getting parks items.

The people who wrote really unhappy reviews, for the most part, were people who didn't like the actual pins they received. In a lot of cases, it was the specific characters on the pins it seemed like people had a problem with. I think if you're thinking about this subscription, you really want to think about what kind of collector you are and whether you'll be disappointed if the pins are not exactly what you would usually purchase.

Personally, I like the idea of being surprised with Parks Pins every month, but the price is a bit much for me. The $39.95 every month includes three pins and shipping. Whether this is a good deal or not kind of depends on what kind of pins you get. In general, Disney Pins run from about $8.99 to $14.95, depending on whether they have moving parts, are limited release, etc. Given that two of the pins are open release, they would probably be either $8.99 or $12.99 if you found them in the parks. The limited release one would likely be in the $12.99-$14.95 range. Depending on the combo, retail price for these pins could be anywhere from around $30 to $40. On the higher range, these boxes might be a good deal, but on the lower end, it's not that great. I guess the fact that shipping is included helps, but, I'm still not totally convinced of the value on this one.

Finally, and this is really probably just me, but I don't like that they call is a subscription when you pay for each, individual box. I know it's more a matter of semantics than anything but, when I think of a a subscription service, I usually think of paying one rate for a product that is delivered every month that is lower than what I would have paid if I had bought the individual items. In this case, since you pay for each box, the only thing that really makes it a subscription is the auto-renew feature that keeps charging your card every month until you cancel. To me, having you pay every month rather than just a flat fee at the beginning takes some of the fun out of it and it definitely makes it less fun to give as a gift.

In short, this is an interesting and unique thing and the vast majority of people who reviewed it seemed to really like it. It's a Find of the Day because it's unusual and something that readers may not know about and may really enjoy. That being said, I'm obviously pretty on the fence about both the value and the format of this product.

That's all for today's Find of the Day. What do you think? Do you love these boxes? Do you think they're a great value? Are you on the fence? Do you wish they'd box something else? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Star Wars Planetary Glassware Set

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a Star Wars Planetary Glassware Set!

Image from Box Lunch website: http://www.boxlunchgifts.com/product/star-wars-planetary-6-piece-glassware-set/10557217.html#q=Disney&sz=120&start=240
Cool, right?

What it is: This is a 6-piece set of glasses that each represent something from Star Wars. Represented are Tatooine, Dagobah, Alderaan, Hoth, Endor, and the Death Star.

What it Costs: These are available a lot of places. Box Lunch has them for $54.50, ThinkGeek has them for $49.99 as does Amazon, and they're currently on sale online only at Hot Topic for $47.60.

Why they're a Find of the Day: There is a lot of Star Wars merchandise out there, but I particularly like these because they're beautiful as well as useful (although they are NOT dishwasher or microwave safe). I really like the beautiful representations of the different planets and the "no moon" we have all come to know and love.

These are particularly unique because, rather than representing a specific character or film, these represent the vast universe of Star Wars and pay homage to the breadth of creativity involved in the franchise. I also like the way this set showcases the Star Wars planets' diversity representing the diversity of our own planet's landscapes. There is an Ice Planet, a Desert Planet, a Rainforest, a Swamp, and then Alderaan, a planet possibly much like our own that is destroyed by essentially a manmade planet. Go ahead and draw your own metaphorical conclusions. Regardless, I feel like this set draws from a part of the Star Wars universe that is otherwise mostly ignored in merchandise and that uniqueness makes them a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you like these glasses? Do you have feelings about the meanings of the planets in Star Wars? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Pixar Slow Cooker

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is so awesome, I've been trying to think of a way to justify owning two slow cookers ever since I first saw it. That's right, it's the Pixar Slow Cooker!

Image from Box Lunch website: http://www.boxlunchgifts.com/product/disney-pixar-7-quart-slow-cooker/10625442.html
How adorable is that thing? Seriously! It's so cute!

What it is: This is a fully functioning, 7-Quart, slow cooker with adorable little images of Pixar characters all over it.

Who it's for: people who cook, people who hate to cook but need food, people who like Pixar, and people who enjoy pot roast.

What it Costs: It's listed on Box Lunch (see my article here for why Box Lunch is a Find of the Day by itself) for $42.90, but HotTopic currently has it on sale online only for $39.92, and if you're a Prime member, Amazon has it in stock right now for $35.

How to Get it: It's available from any of the sites I listed above. Here's a link for the Box Lunch page. Box Lunch does not sponsor this blog, I just like their stuff and their message so, you're likely to see them here a fair amount. Although, if anyone from Box Lunch is reading this and would like to sponsor this blog, I could probably be persuaded ;)

Why it's a Find of the Day: Sometimes you have to make a choice between form and function. This is NOT one of those times. This thing is incredibly awesome looking. All the cute little Pixar favorites staring out at you from the sides just make me happy. And then on top of that, it's a Slow Cooker.

To the uninitiated, a slow cooker is the best kitchen appliance you could possibly own (yes, I'm even including Mickey Waffle Irons in that). "Why?" you ask. First of all, you can cook anything in it, breakfast, dinner, dessert, sides, sauces, soups, it doesn't matter. Second of all, you don't  even have to be a good cook to make meals in these things, you just throw everything in and turn it on (please follow a recipe, don't just throw in random stuff). Third, you can just turn the thing on, leave for work, and then come home to an awesome, hot meal.

I really could go on about the joy of slow cookers for days, but, in short, they're amazing and the fact that this one has Pixar characters on it just makes it even more amazing. That is what makes this a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you love slow cookers? Do you love Pixar? Do you just love Box Lunch? Do you hate all of those things and want to tell me about it? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Personalizable Books

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is: Personalizable Books!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/books-entertainment-frozen-fever-personalizable-book-large-paperback-format/mp/1387609/1000232/
What it is: These are books that are available from the Disney Store website, which allow you to enter personalized information so that your child can be a part of the story.

Who it's for: anyone with kids who like books, people who like personalized things, people who want to read about their own adventures with their favorite characters.

How to get it: a wide variety of personalized books, including characters from Cars, Frozen, Toy Story, Avengers, and a variety of other stories are available here from the Disney Store website.

What it Costs: Books range in price from $14.50 to $39.99. The price differences largely have to do with the size of the book. The $39.99 books are large format hardcovers whereas the $14.50 books are stan

Why it's a Find of the Day: Disney is really great at two things: storytelling and creating an interactive experience. The Disney company revolutionized storytelling with the first cartoon to really incorporate sound into the plot and then later creating the first color-animations. Long before others thought it was possible, Disney created the idea of the full-length animated film as a form of storytelling. Stories are why we love Disney.

Equally, Disney invented the idea of the truly immersive theme park, complete with character interactions and meticulously themed lands. If storytelling is why we love Disney, immersive interactive experiences are what keep us coming back for more. These Books are a Find of the Day because they incorporate both of those things. They are retellings or new stories of our favorite Disney characters with the added interactive element making your child a part of the story.

Personalizations can include adding things like your child's name, their birthday, their city, and even the name of a friend. These books are a great way to really engage your kids in reading because they get to be a part of the story.

Worthy of Note: Right now, some of the large format personalizable books are on sale 2 for $30. View the available selection here. Those are normally $21.50 each so, that's a savings of $13! Not bad. Also, the standard format books are on sale here, 2 for $25. Those books are usually $14.50 each so that's a savings of $4.

That's all for the Find of the Day. What do you think? Will you be buying one? Do you like being in books? Does this affront your ideals of what books should be? Let me know in the comments!

Disney Find of the Day: Lego Disney Castle

Hey There Disney Fans!

I am SO excited about today's Find of the Day! Some of you may have heard it was coming, but what you may not know is: it's already here! The Disney Castle from Lego!!!

Normally, this is where I would put a picture but, I could not find one in a usable format. You can view it one the Lego store website here.

What it is: This is a 4,080 piece Disney Castle made of Legos intended for builders ages 16+. The Disney Castle mostly resembles Cinderella's Castle in Disney World. The Disney Castle also comes with a variety of minifigures including Mickey and Minnie.

What it Costs: $349.99 plus shipping and tax. Note: on the Lego website, shipping on items over $35 is usually free. Free Shipping should be automatically applied to your order at checkout but, this is only available in the contiguous United State and Canada so, if you're in Alaska, Hawaii, or outside the US and Canada, you may still have to pay for shipping.

How to get it: Well, here's where it gets tricky. Technically, this castle doesn't come out until September 1st, BUT if you are a Lego VIP member, you can go ahead and order yours NOW!!!

Why it's a Find of the Day: While Lego puts out many Disney Castle playsets intended for younger kids, this if the first time that they've put out a large-scale one intended for older/adult builders. That makes this a totally unique, never before seen piece of Disney merchandise.

Additionally, like all Lego merchandise, this gives you an opportunity to build one of your favorite things. Legos make for great group/bonding activities (for people age-appropriate for this project) and, when you're finished, you have something beautiful to put in your home.

Finally, for those of you who have never taken on one of these larger Lego projects before, let me tell you that you are in for a treat. Not only does Lego put out a beautiful product on the outside, but they make an effort to go into great detail on the inside as well. As you build, you will find that you are completing and furnishing areas on the inside that you might not even see when the project is complete. Such is their dedication to detail. Lego really makes great products and I am so excited that they are teaming up with Disney to create what it sure to be an incredible product.

Worthy of Note: If you think you might want this Disney Castle, I HIGHLY recommend becoming a Lego VIP member. Lego VIP membership is FREE, your membership will give you access to go ahead and order your Disney Castle now rather than waiting until September, and MOST IMPORTANTLY you will earn 1 VIP point for every $1 you spend. Once you get 100 VIP points, you will get a $5 reward. So, for buying your Disney Castle, you will instantly have an additional $15 to spend on your next Lego purchase. There are a lot of other perks to being a Lego VIP member as well. To check it out visit the Lego Store website here.

Find of the Day: Storybook Classics Monthly Ornaments & Pins

Hey there Disney Fans!

I am really excited about today's Find of the Day because it's not just one find, it's several months worth of finds! Yay!

Ok, ok, excitement aside, today's Find of the Days are the Storybook Classics Monthly Ornaments & Pins!!! Yay! (yeah, I'm really pretty excited.)

Images from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/art-of-disney-animation-monthly-ornaments/mn/1025033/

What it Costs: So far, only the first month (August) has been released but, the ornament for August is listed at $19.95 plus shipping and tax and the pin is listed at $14.95.

Worthy of Note: I particularly wanted to report on this Find now because August is the first month these are being released, so everyone will have the opportunity to get in at the beginning and not miss any of these. One will be put out every month for a year, so it's a great opportunity to start a collection.

That's it for the Find of the Day! What do you think? Will you be collecting these? Do you love Lambert? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: TaleSpin DVD Set

Hey There Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is definitely one of my favorites: a TaleSpin DVD Set!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/animation-movies-entertainment-talespin-volume-3-2disc-dvd-set/mp/1371758/1000316/

Does the image on the front of that DVD warm your heart and make you feel deeply happy inside? If not, you need to buy it and find out why it should!

What it is: This is a DVD with 11 episodes of one of the best shows ever to grace Disney afternoons.

What it Costs: $12.95 plus shipping and tax.

How to get it: This is available from the Disney Store website here, but I have also seen episodes available at Costco.

Why it's a Find of the Day: Well first of all, TaleSpin was an AMAZING show. It used characters loosely based on Jungle Book characters and set them around a cargo plane company struggling to survive. It was fun, adventurous, witty, and had a spunky, young, air-skateboarder. It was amazing and should be preserved and watched by a new generation.

The second reason this is a Find of the Day is because I wanted to highlight the fact that this, and other classic Disney afternoon TV shows are available on the Disney Store website. You may be able to find them a few other places as well but, you can pretty consistently find them on the Disney Store online. In addition to TaleSpin, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, and Goof Troop as well as some other 90's favorites like X-Men and Gargoyles are also available.

That's it for today's Find of the Day! What do you think? Do you remember these shows? Will you be picking some up for your own kids? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Matterhorn Trash Can Salt or Pepper Shaker

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a Matterhorn Trash Can Salt or Pepper Shaker!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/kitchen-essentials-kitchen-dinnerware-home-decor-matterhorn-trash-can-salt-or-pepper-shaker/mp/1395058/1000352/

Is that the cutest thing ever or what?

What it is: It's a Salt or Pepper Shaker that is designed to look like the garbage cans from Disneyland near the Matterhorn.

What it Costs: $9.95 plus shipping and tax.

Who it's For: Anybody who likes the Matterhorn, anyone who appreciates the garbage cans of Disneyland, anybody who wants to season their food, and people who understand the value of extreme cuteness.

Why it's a Find of the Day: Look how CUTE it is!!! Ok, so that's no enough reason to be a Find of the Day. It IS adorable though. The real reason this is a Find of the Day is that it commemorates one of my favorite things about Disney Parks: The incredible attention to detail and intricate theming.

Walt Disney insisted when he made his Parks that each land should be a totally immersive experience, right down to the garbage cans. They did such a good job that there are whole blogs and websites specifically aimed at appreciating the theming of the garbage cans of the Disney Parks. http://www.magicaltrash.com/ has pictures of well themed Disney trashcans from Disney Parks all over the world.

At various times, Disney has produced salt and pepper shakers depicting a variety of different trashcans at the Disney Parks but, currently, this is the only one listed. Since it seems like Disney might be moving away from making these, if you want one, it's probably a good idea to jump on this before it's gone.

The fact that it's such a great tribute to Disney Parks design and detail as well as the fact that these salt and pepper shakers are getting harder to find makes this a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you love it? Do you not want to feel like you're shaking garbage on your food? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Chip and Dale Apron

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is a Chip and Dale Apron

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/more-accessories-accessories-chip-n-dale-apron/mp/1397384/1000387/
I love this apron. It's so cute. Look at the bow! Look at the acorn! SO CUTE!

What it is: This is an adult-size apron with Chip and Dale design.

What it Costs: $19.95 plus shipping and tax.

Who it's for: people who cook, people who like to look cute while they cute, people who like Chip and Dale, and people who appreciate the adorable.

Why it's a Find of the Day: Well, not to beat a dead horse here but, It's So Cute! Also, there really isn't that much Chip and Dale merch out there. I particularly like this because, in addition to paying tribute to everyone's favorite Disney chipmunks, it's an actual, usable apron. I like Disney stuff but, I especially like it when it's functional.

I specifically think this would be a great addition to a Thanksgiving Day celebration. The colors are so Fall-festive and anyone wearing it is sure to look adorable no matter what craziness is happening in the kitchen. That, and the general love I'm sure most of us have for the Rescue Rangers, is why this is a find of the day.

What do you think? Will you be buying one? Do you love Chip and Dale? Will you not be able to stop singing if you read: ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale! Rescue Rangers!? Let me know in the comments!

Find of the Day: Rock 'n Roller Coaster Drumsticks

Hey there Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is Rock'n Roller Coaster Drumsticks!

Image from Disney Store website: https://www.disneystore.com/play-sets-more-toys-rock-n-roller-coaster-drumsticks-pink/mp/1408487/1000265/#longDescription

What it is: These are actual, functioning drumsticks with screen artwork based on the Rock'n Roller Coaster ride! They come in two styles: Mickey and Pink.

What it Costs: These are $17.95 for a pair.

Who it's for: Drummers, fans of Rock'n Roller Coaster, fans of Aerosmith, and people who like hitting things with sticks (not for use on people or animals... probably shouldn't hit plants either).

Why it's a Find of the Day: First off, drumsticks are a very unique find as far as Disney merch goes. Although there may be other types of licensed Disney drumsticks available elsewhere, these are the ONLY drumsticks available directly from the Disney Store.

Secondly, they are themed on the Rock'n Roller Coaster. For those who have not had the experience, Rock'n Roller Coaster is an extremely unique attraction that only exists in  Hollywood Studios at Disney World. It is an indoor roller coaster (similar to Space Mountain in that way) themed on the music of Aerosmith. The idea is that you're rushing away from the crazed fans after the concert and you jump into a stretch limo (the ride car) and take off on... well.. a rock'n roller coaster.

Unlike Space Mountain, which has iterations at multiple different parks around the world, there is only one Rock'n Roller Coaster. Additionally, it's placement in Hollywood Studios makes this ride unique. We've all watched over the years as Hollywood Studios changed names (previously MGM Studios), stopped being a working studio, and generally struggled to find its identity and its anchor attractions. Since its opening, Rock'n Roller Coaster has consistently been a fan favorite, solid attraction.

Currently, with many of the traditional attractions the park was known for are closed (and some are soon to close) as the park amps up for the additions of Star Wars land and Toy Story land. This ride is even more important as it continues to draw guests to Hollywood Studios during this transition. And yet, despite its obvious importance, being one of only two "thrill rides" in Hollywood Studios, there really isn't all that much merchandise associated with ride. There are literally only 17 items listed on the Disney Store website associated with Rock'n Roller Coaster and it's currently a featured collection (for contrast, the other ride being featured right now is Haunted Mansion and it has 59 items).

So, in short, these are a Find of the Day because it's unusual to find Disney drumsticks and because, although Rock'n Roller Coaster is a very important ride, it doesn't always have that much merchandise compared with other rides.

That's it for the Find of the Day. What do you think? Will you be buying these? Do you feel that Rock'n Roller Coaster needs more merch? Let me know in the comments!
