Find of the Day: Attractionistas

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's Find of the Day is the Attractionista Dolls!

What it is: The Attractionistas are dolls that each represent a different ride from Disney World and Disneyland. The backstory is kind of vague, but the website says:

"Attractionistas are special friends that love to be together at the Disney Parks every chance they get. Each has wished to always be part of their favorite attraction, and that it could be a part of them. Now all their wondrous wishing has come true with this fabulous 12" fashion doll!"

So, there you have it. They're... a part of the attraction? The attractions are a part of them? They're victims of fashion-wishing? I'm not really sure, but what they definitely are is thoroughly themed.

What they Cost: The dolls are $24.95 each.

Who they're for: That's a good question. These dolls are definitely toys, so they could be for kids but, they're also thoroughly themed, with semi-obscure references, making them seem kind of like they're themed toward adult collectors. In general, I'd say if you're a fan of one of the represented attractions, these dolls might be for you.

Why they're a Find of the Day: Well, they're just so darn unique. Frankly, I was a little weirded out by them when I first saw them. When I saw the "Carrie" doll with her pale skin and hair, I first thought she was some type of horror doll. But, as I read about her, I realized Carrie was a play on Carousel and that she is supposed to represent both the King Arthur and Prince Charming Regal carousels in Disneyland and Disney World.

Gracey up there is named after Master Gracy, the mysterious owner of the haunted mansion. Pearl, the Pirates of the Caribbean themed doll is name, probably, after the Black Pearl - Captain Jack Sparrow's famous ship. And finally, perhaps most cleverly named of all, Maddie (below) represents the Mad Tea Party ride.

Disney has put out plenty of dolls in the past on a variety of themes, but I don't recall them ever putting out quite such unusual-looking, ride- specific dolls as these. They really have a look that is all their own. I'm not even totally sure if I really like them, but they are definitely Disney and definitely unique. That makes them a Find of the Day.

What do you think? Do you like them? Do you think they're weird? Did you buy them? Do you know more backstory about them? Let me know in the comments!
