Disney Deal of the Day: $29 Dooney & Bourke Cosmetic Case with $100 Dooney & Bourke Purchase

Hey Disney Fans!

Today's highlighted Deal of the Day is a $29 Dooney & Bourke Cosmetic Case with $100 Dooney & Bourke Purchase.

What it is: This is a deal where you can add a Dooney & Bourke cosmetic case to your $100+ D&B order for only an extra $29.

Who it's For: People who like D&B, people who are planning to buy D&B, people who want even more D&B.

How to get it: After you have added $100+ worth of pre-tax, pre-shipping D&B merchandise to your cart, add the promo code DOONEY at checkout. The cosmetic case will automatically be added to the cart.

Worthy of Note: this deal specifically give you the "Disney Sketch" pattern cosmetic case for $29 (as pictured above). You do not get a choice of what pattern you want so, this is really only a good deal for you if this is a pattern you like. Your $100+ purchase can be other patterns (like the ones shown below), but the $29 case is only available in the Disney Sketch pattern. It's pretty cute and very Disney, but everything is a matter of taste when it comes to accessories, so it's just something to keep in mind.

Is it a "Good Deal": Well, of course that depends on whether you like the pattern and whether you were planning on spending $100+ in the first place. However, if we're just looking at numbers, D&B cosmetic cases of this type generally run around $48 each. There aren't any currently listed on the Disney Store website, but it might be safe to assume that Disney-specific ones might sell for slightly more, if they were offered. In any case, this represents a savings of probably around $20. Not a huge discount when you consider how much you're spending overall but, a pretty good discount on the cosmetic bag itself.

My Thoughts: If you like the "Disney Sketch" pattern, and you were already planning on buying a more expensive D&B piece, this is a no-brainer: go for it. If you're more on the fence, there are some things to consider:

First, even if you don't like the pattern yourself, it is really cute and, since you're getting it at a steep discount, it might make a good gift for any of your Disney-loving friends (assuming you were planning to buy yourself  $100+ of some other pattern). Cosmetic bags don't go bad, so you can just put it away for Christmas.

Second, D&B merch does not go on sale all that often (it's usually excluded from more general sales), so finding any discount at all is not to be ignored. As long as you're over that $100 mark, you CAN combine this with already discounted D&B merch. Right now, both the Haunted Mansion and the Nightmare Before Christmas patterns shown above are on sale at 24-25% off and are eligible for the cosmetic case add-on promotion. When you're looking at a discount on both the larger bag and the cosmetic case, this starts to look like a better deal.

Finally, it cannot be ignored that there are some really cool new patterns out there from D&B, including the Small World Collection and the brand new Alice in Wonderland Collection. Both of these have caught a lot of attention because of their beautiful representations of the classic film/rides. I don't know if you really need an excuse to want one of these but, maybe the deal for the cosmetic case will help push you over the edge to treat yo'self with one of these beauties. (Check out that Small World Shopper below!)

The Fine Print: This is the Fine Print that Disney published to go with this promotion.
  • Limited-time offer, while supplies last.
  • Purchase with Purchase pricing applies only with any qualifying $100 Dooney & Bourke Disney Parks Authentic Merchandise purchase.
  • The $29 price of the Dooney & Bourke cosmetic case will automatically be applied to the order.
  • Limit of one purchase with purchase per order.
  • Merchandise must be exchanged for identical item or returned at discounted price with valid packing slip.
  • No adjustments to prior purchases.
  • Valid on phone orders, orders placed online at DisneyStore.com and Disney Store outlet locations.
  • Discounts based on original retail prices.
  • Intermediate markdowns may have been applied.
  • Disney E-Commerce reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
  • Void where prohibited.
One Last Thing: As the Fine Print says, this deal is good for "one purchase with purchase per order". It's not limited to a certain number per person. So, if you were planning on buying a lot of D&B bags, like getting one for each family member for Christmas, you may want to split out your order. Here's how:

For each of your orders, add enough D&B merchandise to get over the $100 mark. Then, at checkout add the promo code DOONEY. Once that code has been applied, you will be able to add another promo code. Add the promo code SHIPMAGIC to get Free Shipping. I checked and it WILL let you add both. Go ahead and complete that order. Once you've completed that order, go ahead and start filling your bag with your next D&B purchase and repeat.

Based on the Fine Print, you should be able to get another cosmetic case for $29 on your second order. I have not actually tested this, but since you won't have to pay any extra for shipping as long as you use the SHIPMAGIC promo code on each order, there's nothing lost in trying. If you're planning to buy 3 or 4 bags (most of which are over $100 to start with) then you may be able to get just as many cosmetic cases. At that point, you can keep them, give them as gifts, maybe give them as an accompaniment to the larger purses, or find them new homes on eBay. Note: I don't advocate buying something out on the Disney Store to make a profit on eBay. That's not likely to work and it's not nice to other collectors. I'm just informing that you may be able to get extra cosmetic cases at a discount.

That's all for today's Deal of the Day. What do you think? Do you like this deal? Do any of these bags strike your fancy? Do you just not get the big deal with D&B? Let me know in the comments!
