Tsum Tsum Tuesday! Villains Collection

Hey There Disney Fans!

I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend! Now that we're all back at work, it's time to celebrate something else: Tsum Tsums! Today is Tsum Tsum Tuesday!!! The collection being released is: Villains!

What it is: The First and Third Tuesday of every month is "Tsum Tsum Tuesday". On this day, a special new collection of Tsum Tsums is released. It usually includes a collection of around 8 mini Tsum Tsums and some other accessories featuring the same style. Sometimes the Tsum Tsums released are very limited, so your only chance to collect them is to be at your Disney Store or online first thing Tuesday morning.

This Tuesday, the collection released is Villains.

How to Get it: This collection is available in your local Disney Store or online.

What it Costs: The Tsum Tsums are $5.95 each, but there area also a few shirts being included in this collection. The shirts are $26.95 for a tank top or $29.95 for either of the T-shirts.

If you buy any two of these limited release shirts, you can get them for $44. That's a savings of around $16 if you're buying the more expensive shirts.

What's Included in this Release: There are quite a few items in this release, including 8 mini Tsum Tsums and three Limited Release shirts. I will go through each of the Tsum Tsums below, but you can view the t-shirts online here.

Maleficent: I'm starting with Maleficent because she's a little different from the other characters. As we all know, Maleficent is the Villain from Sleeping Beauty. If you recall the film, then you know that, for most of the movie, Maleficent is an evil fairy plotting against the King, his family, and his daughter, Aurora.

The Tsum Tsum above represents Maleficent's Evil Fairy look. This is how she appears for the majority of the movie. However, at the final battle/climax of the movie, she suddenly transforms into a huge dragon:

While the movie version is pretty terrifying, if you're a small child, I think we can all agree that she's gotten a serious cuteness upgrade in Tsum Tsum form. I think it's interesting that they decided to show both of Maleficent's forms.

Evil Queen: Next up is the Evil Queen from Snow White. The original Disney Villain, even as a Tsum Tsum, Evil Queen still manages to look like she's disgusted with everything.

Seriously, have you ever seen a Tsum Tsum manifest so much derision? That is one "I'm so much better than you" look she's got on her face. Impressively evil.

Lady Tremaine: For those of you saying, "who?" right now, Lady Tremaine is the wicked stepmother from Cinderella. I actually think she's the most terrifying of the Disney Villains featured here.

Lady Tremaine

Of all the Villains in this collection, she's one of only two without magic. She manages to be every bit as evil, manipulative, and vicious as the lady who can turn into a giant dragon, and all she's got is her attitude. I find her the most frightening because she's the one type of Villain in this collection that could really exist. I could talk for a long time about Lady Tremaine, but I'll shorten it to this: all of us have influence over someone in our lives; we can use that influence for harm or for good. I'd encourage everyone to think about this today and to choose to Have Courage and Be Kind.

Dr. Facilier: Dr. Facilier is the evil Voodoo Man from Princess and the Frog. He's a pretty dark, though sometimes entertaining character.

I think this is a highly underrated film. It has delightful music and it really beautifully drawn. I think it suffered under the weight of overwhelming expectations at the time when it came out, but it's actually quite good. A little warning though: this particular Disney Villain gets a comeuppance that may be too terrifying for small children.

Cruella De Vil: We all know Cruella as the infamous Villain of 101 Dalmatians.

Don't worry, her tiny fur coat is NOT made from real fur.

Ursula: Ursula is the terrifying sea-witch/evil octopus from The Little Mermaid. She introduced many of us to the dangers of entering into contracts we don't understand.

I believe after her defeat at the end of the movie, she went into offering student loan packages.

Jafar as a Genie: Ok, I saved this one for last because it's just so strange. We all know of Jafar as the Villain of Aladdin. However, Genie Jafar is only a very brief part of the movie.

I'm really not sure why they made this choice. Several Disney Villains have more than one aspect. I think it's interesting that they decided to show both aspects of Maleficent, only the more famous version of Evil Queen (rather than showing the "old hag" version), and then only the less well-known version of Jafar. My only thought about the reasoning for this is that there is already a traditional Jafar Tsum Tsum, so they made a more unusual one for this collection.

That's it for Tsum Tsum Tuesday this week! What do you think? Do you like this collection? Do you like Genie Jafar? Let me know in the comments!
